Life can end at any time. My recent death (and coming back, obviously) has awakened me. Life is better now. Richer. More fulfilling. I appreciate my life more. I appreciate my friends more. My family. My mom. Yes, always loved her but only texted her. Now. Daily calls. I appreciate you, Chuck. Always did, but more so now. You are a friend, without you even knowing it. Thanks for showing my beau Roy Armando Jeans a good time while I was home recovering from my heart attack. He loves you. He loved the Summertime Thing Festival!
I was supposed to promote it for you.
Then ...
Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans (~ John Lennon).
Love ya man. Sorry to disappear on ya.
God was calling. I told her to call back when I'm 100. 57 and I ain't ready to go anywhere, except to a Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express concert!
Beautifully written. Sorry to hear about Sam, she sounds like she was great company and obviously she had great taste.
I lived in Sheffield in the 80s and was at the Leadmill gigs with my own Sam. We've never forgotten them. I'm glad that Sheffield was as memorable for you as it was for us. We moved away after a few years but nowadays our kids live/love there, so we get a regularly fix.
Great tribute to what sounds like a unique and wonderful friend. I lived in London during the last gasp of Thatcherism and wish I had know about YOU then. Too busy changing nappies … Losing a special friend - leaves a big hole. My condolences.
Wow Chuck. That will forever influence my memory of the Sheffield gig last year - your words have made me miss someone that I never knew. I was born in '67, so that resonates, too. 💔
Beautiful, man. I feel I've reached that "certain age", one in which a twinge of sorrow washes over when folks 5 or 10 years younger than I am are no longer here for us. It's tough out here, and tougher without loved ones. Love on ya. And on Rob. And, really, everyone that orbited her life.
A beautiful tribute, and I did once book you in to the Britannia for a show in Manchester for which I apologise as it’s a crap hotel. Keep up the good work and hopefully see you next time you visit our shores.

That was a lovely goodbye CP. Sounds like she was a real good ol' soul. I'm sorry for the loss and sorrow that you and all in her orbit must endure.
That's a beautiful eulogy Chuck. RIP Sam and condolences to her loved ones.
Brilliant read Thanks for sharing.
Such an engaging tribute. With or without a backing of power chords, the words always work
That was beautiful Chuck. Thank you for expressing so much. I never met Sam but what a beauty, so sorry for your loss and for all those who loved her.

Thanks Kevin, tough is the word
Alazarin Crimson makes me think of a favorite Donavon tune: Wear Your Love Like Heaven. Apropos association given your sweet friends’s passing.
Thank you for sharing.
I'm so sorry. Sounds like a bright light went out. Wish I could have met her. :-(

Sad. I’m sorry for your loss.
