I didn’t get to hear the last show. Friday was a very busy day. I never got to listen as often as I wanted since 5 pm is kinda early on the east coast. Although I doubt you would be up for it, I think you could have a great podcast. You’re such a natural story teller/historian/witty person and the microphone loves your voice. You could just do an audio version of the newsletter. Hell, I bet you could sell voice mail messages. Enjoy the Euroad tour and don’t catch anything that music can’t cure. We await your return .

Well, that short list certainly cleared up a few things…

I noticed you didn’t mention bowling shirts or personal hygiene tips, but who’s complaining?!

I might wear my genuine “Bobby Fuller died for your sins” button for the grand finale!

Keep the fires burning bro.

Crap! That’s such bad news. There goes my Friday night (GMT) comfort blanket. Many thanks for the fantastically varied music that you played, you really opened my ears to a shed-load of great new (to me) artists - and I now have a massive Trip in the Country playlist to work through while remembering the good times. See you at the Brudenell in June!

Fun show, really enjoyed it. Would be primo if they allowed you to post the back catalog of episodes as a podcast or whatever. 🤷‍♂️🤔

I would love that too. From what I understand, it’s all going up in the ether.

The Gimmie Country app kept blipping off last time, every time I tried to open it to listen. The weird thing was that it had been earlier in the day. I ended up listening to it streaming for a bit but couldn’t view the app comment room or chip in my intended, all-important $5 contribution. I reported the problem I was having to Gimmie Country via Facebook messenger because I wanted to make sure they knew people (me) were trying to access. I’m sorry that the show will not continue because I did manage to follow was really cool! Oh well. 😞 Hopefully I’l be able to follow along one way or another tomorrow, 4/21 .

Not sure why… I guess they really do need a team of engineers on call 24 hours a day to keep those wheels in motion.

Hard to say looking at it from my angle. Who knows, maybe I messed up the connection on my end somehow? I recently had to cancel + renew a credit card and I can’t remember if that was required to access the app or not. There are so many details when it comes to trouble-shooting all things tech. I haven’t a clue what it might look like from the Gimme Country management side of things. In any case, it’s too

bad to see “Trip to the Country” disappear. It’s what made me take interest in any of it to begin with.

Correction- It (the app) had been working earlier in the day

Bummed, and loved the show: starting to think maybe a business might not make it if it's related to music.

The Gimmie Country train has been slowing for a while now. But Dang. This time it is stopping for real. In the words of Mr. Bill, the Claymation OG. OHHHH NOOOO.

Thanks for shoveling the coal and keeping the train rolling while you did. It was a great ride. We learned about the Poetry of Frank Stanford. We took a deep dive into Dylan’s latest basement tapes. We were introduced to that catchy Right Side of My Neck song. It was always fun.

The show inspired my wife and I to travel to some of the shows where we meet real live members of the Trip in the Country Club. We meet a gentleman running a hot dog stand at the Continental Club “Living the Dawg life”. He had stories about stories.

At the Devils Backbone, we meet two guys who were college buddies. They had traveled from Oklahoma and Corpus Christie to meet each other and see the show. We laughed as we shared stories about music and travel. Then the show started. They caught the holy spirit, jumped to their feet, and proceeded to block our view with their big mobly heads. All is forgiven, but not forgotten.

We met a work at home mom and traveling salesman in Pittsburg’s Club Café. They gave us the inside scoop on what to see in Pittsburg. They were delightful and thankfully had normal sized heads. We even got to take my little brother to a show in Penngrove. He liked it so much he took his wife to the Valentines show in San Francisco. We learned there are lots of CP and Mission express fans out in the wild and they travel.

Thanks for the fun times.

Yes, it would take so much listening for me to really feel good about the hour or two of music that I would assemble. Going through my old records. singles… So when the touring Cranked back up I had less time. I suppose I could’ve cranked more shows out… But, so it goes…

That's quite a list, Chuck! I'll be tuning in tomorrow from the UK. Was gutted when I read Linda Ryan's Twitter post about Gimme Country shutting down, as Trip in the Country was a big deal during the pandemic (and since), and was basically unmissable; even the Instagram teasers for that week's show, became an important event. Getting involved in the chat was what added the human touch, when there wasn't much human touching going on! Looking forward to the UK leg of the tour - not too long now! Take care. Pete C

Nooooo !!! So sad....Trip in the Country show has been a Friday afternoon fixture for me for years now! First, it helped me (re)discover Chuck during the pandemic, but little did I know what a phenomenal DJ he would be - I was continuously amazed and surprised not only by his picks, but also the many many 'behind the scenes' factoids and first-person anecdotes. I will sorely miss hearing you on the 'radio' Chuck - hope something else like this comes up again!!

Thanks CP. just the thing I needed to read on this morning as I stare at these screens. I don’t need to clock in or clock out, click my heels or follow the clues. I don’t need to tip. Or do I? I’ll say you told me so. Because I am in Nixonland. What a fun read. Take care.
